Before starting this class I thought of art of something that only rich people had time for. Since I am not rich I completely dismissed any thing related to art because I had a idea in my head that it wasn’t for me. Now that I’m almost done with this class I now know that idea was very ignorant. Art is everything and everything is art. I now believe that art is subjective and almost anything can be art. For example this laptop that I'm typing on can be considered art. The water bottle next to me can be considered art.

My major is Psychology. My ultimate career goal is to be a psychiatrist. When I think of art and medicine I think of drawings of the human body that medical school students have to study from. It sounds silly but the human body diagram is life imitating art. This specific piece of art is helping to saving lives. If the drawing never existed medical school students wouldn’t have any visual representation of the human body .

Yes, art matters. The thing about about art is no one can say “ I don’t like art” because art is SO versatile. There is a branch of art for everyone. With this being said art can help everyone. It may be a job, a way to express yourself , or a stress reliever. In that way yes, art matters a lot. If art was to vanish tomorrow many people would feel broken hearted. I’ve heard multiple stories of painters becoming depressed when they becoming disabled and can’t paint anymore. Art is as source of happiness for many people. I agree with the quote “a great nation deserves great art” because its true. Milan is one of the best places for art inspiration. I suppose its because Italy has free healthcare, making it a great nation.

Overall I’m glad I decided to pick this class to fill my art requirement. Even though this might be my first and last art class ever I still took in more knowledge that I came in with It taught me what art really is and how I can continue to use art in my daily life. When I get super stressed I just listen to music and color. It’s not what some people consider art but that is what art is to me and my lifestyle.
